From 1956 to 1983 served as lion. Ophth. Surgeon & later Head, Dept, of Ophth. K.E.M. Hospital & G.S. Medical College, now Prof. Emeritus at K.E.M. & Bombay Hospital.
Have been awarded number of Oration Gold Medals at National & Int. Conferences. Published over 100 papers, represented India at European Congresses, International Congresses and represented India, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka. 1970 to 74 at Int. Council of Ophthalmology on Prevention & Cure of Blindness.
Only Asian to be invited to 2nd Int. Symposium at Johannesburg (S.Africa) in 1972. Invited as Guest lecturer at various Int. Congresses.
Written Chapters in “Diagnosis & Management Of Medical Emergencies " & API Text Book Of Medicine.
Secretary General-All India Ophth. Society - 1978 to'1985.
President - All India Ophth. Society in 1987
during this year achieved the impossible - Total exemption of Customs Duty on 37 items like Lasers, ophth. Microscopes, Scans, etc.
Founder Member - National Board Of Examination.
Expert in Ophth. at Indian Council of Medical Research for past 20 years.

National Association for the Blind - 1989 to 1992.
Past District. Governor Rotary District 3140 - 1978-79.
Has been conducting Eye camps since 1962, & pioneer in conducting Squint Camps since 1968

"LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" awarded first time by ALL INDIA OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY,in January -2000.
Recently on September 5th 2000 he was awarded" Outstanding Teachers Award " by National Board of Examination, New Delhi and also by his Alma Mater - G. S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, both awards were for the first time to an Eye Surgeon.
